Padel kit is a language. Everyone on court is reading it.
The full matching set: shoes, shirt, bag, overgrip, all in the same colourway. You either have a sponsor or you have been playing for less than a year and are extremely committed. Either way, respect.
The reused tennis shoes: still functional, slightly wrong silhouette, giving slightly on lateral movements. You are either new, practical, or spending your equipment budget elsewhere. Possibly on the racket.
The premium racket with average everything else: the racket cost more than the rest of the kit combined. This person has spent three hours reading reviews on YouTube and made a very specific choice. They are probably better than they look.
The club t-shirt from four years ago: still going, faded around the collar. This person plays twice a week and has done for years. They stopped caring what they look like on court around the same time they stopped double-faulting on big points.
None of it matters to anyone except the person wearing it. And yet here we all are, noticing.
